Project Type(s): Higher Education, Alternative Energy
Services Provided: Geotechnical Engineering
This solar development is being designed on the campus of the College of the Redwoods in Eureka, California. This part of California is a geologically complex area where three crustal plates converge to create a seismically active area. The College of the Redwoods was built on an active fault that was not discovered until after the campus was built. Geo-Engineering Solutions is providing design services to build a new groundmount solar farm within the campus of the college. Our work is being coordinated with the oversight of the Division of the State Architect and California Geologic Survey. In addition to the active Little Salmon Fault, there are also areas of soft soil and liquefiable soil to account for in the foundation design.
