San Leandro High School Gymnasium and Site Improvements

Project Location: San Leandro, California
Client: San Leandro Unified School District
Project Type(s): K-12 Education
Services Provided: Geotechnical Engineering, Construction Observation

Geo-Engineering Solutions provided both design-level geotechnical engineering studies and construction-phase geotechnical services for the recent construction of a new gymnasium and associated site improvements at San Leandro High School. The project site is located within a liquefaction hazard zone, requiring additional geotechnical evaluations to comply with the Division of the State Architect (DSA) and California Geological Survey (CGS)regulations during the planning phase.

To address the site’s expansive clay soils, the earthwork phase incorporated the use of lime stabilization techniques to improve soil performance and support the new structures. The development included the construction of a new gymnasium, locker rooms, weight room, and related facilities.
