This new luxury apartment development included many geotechnical challenges including shoring, dewatering, and monitoring for settlement in large adjacent structures. Groundwater as shallow as 5-feet had to be drawn-down with underlying clay soils that were susceptible to consolidation settlement being a driving design consideration. We coordinated with the engineering design team and performed extensive analysis to determine acceptable levels of settlement. The project was successfully completed with no adverse off-site issues.
